Jimi Hendrix Park Foundation
The Hendrix Estate has chosen The Jimi Hendrix Park Foundation as the charity to receive 5% of all proceeds from the sale of Hendrix merchandise sold on Zionrootswear.com. The Jimi Hendrix Park Foundation is on a mission to raise 1 million dollars to renovate the Jimi Hendrix Park in Jim Hendrix’s hometown of Seattle, Washington.
The Jimi Hendrix Park in Seattle, Washington opened in the spring of 2006, after the city approved a $309,000 parks levy and a name change for the Colman School Parking Lot Development at 2400 S. Massachusetts Street, Seattle, WA. It is adjacent to the Northwest African American Museum. It's has green grass and an irrigation system, but nothing to commemorate its namesake. Janie Hendrix announced that she hopes to throw a concert and release party for a renovated park with more landscaping and Hendrix-related structures in 2012. To make that park a reality, she and other park supporters hope to raise as much as $1 million in park levies and from the public, she said.
